Well, I'm safe. I made it. And I've been here for about a full hour. So I'm basically an expert ;)
It is beautiful here. Remember Baja? It's a lot like that but much greener. There are palm trees everywhere, the houses are colorful and painted somewhat randomly on each outside wall, and it is pretty flat as far as I can see. The ocean looks amazing; we drove all along the side of it as we went to the CCM (MTC).
So I am the only one to arrive today. I kept hoping to see another missionary during my layovers, but I didn't. There are four other sisters that arrived yesterday. They all seem pretty dang cool. I'm in a trio and I can't wait to start working and learning! I don't think I missed too much, they said that yesterday they just had orientation and a basic Spanish class.
They fed me Sancocho when I arrived, a soup they eat a lot here. It was soo good. They put rice and fresh avocado in it.
I am pumped. When I got in the car after getting picked up, it was just me and two Dominican men. They were way nice. As we drove, they talked in the front with Spanish I could barely understand, but I just couldn't stop smiling. I am in the Dominican Republic. What is life? I don't even know. This is crazy. I am so blessed. I am so ready. I can't wait. Bring it all on.
Love you all,
Write me! I would love to hear from you! :)
